A laundry plant is hot, wet and loud. Dryers and presses throw off heat and steam all day, and none of it stays in the room it was made in unless something stops it.
Clean and soiled must not mix. Linen coming in off a truck and linen going out packed are two different things, and the line between them is often just an open doorway on a busy floor.
Then there is the front of house. A dry cleaner with a shop attached has customers metres from a working plant, and everything they hear and smell comes through that one doorway.
Strip curtains hold the plant heat inside the plant. The barrier closes itself behind every trolley, so the steam and the warmth stay where they are useful instead of heating your shopfront.
They give you the clean and soiled boundary without building a wall. A run of strips across an open floor separates intake from packing, and it can move if the layout changes.
They also cut what customers hear. A colour on the shop doorway screens the plant and softens the noise coming through it.

Intake is where the outside gets in. Trucks, trolleys and drivers, often with the door up for the length of a delivery, and all of your plant heat going out past them.
This is the heat and steam line. Dryers and presses throw off more than people expect, and holding it on the plant side is what keeps the rest of the building workable.
The boundary that matters most. A run of strips separates the clean side from everything upstream, and it goes across an open floor where there is no doorway to use.
A colour, 2mm
Customers should not be looking or listening into the plant. A colour screens the machines and softens the noise, while your staff walk through with an armful of hangers.
A laundry is a wet, warm environment year round. Our head sections and hook-on plates are stainless steel, which is why they last in a room that would rust anything else.

Yes, and it is the most common reason laundries call us. A run of strips on a head section creates a full height boundary across an open floor, and it comes down again if you rearrange.
They reduce how much crosses the boundary, the same way they hold cold air in a cool room. They are not insulation, so they will not do the job of a wall, but on an open doorway they make a real difference.
They soften it rather than block it. Strip curtains are not acoustic panels, so if noise is your main problem you need more than this.
3mm. It handles constant trolley traffic and it is heavy enough to hang properly on a wide opening. Go to 300mm width on the busiest runs so the overlap survives.

The strategy doc calls this a service industry gap, which is a reason to have a page. But we have no install, no photo and no customer, so it is all reasoning.
It is standard practice in commercial laundry and it is the strongest argument on the page. But nobody has told us laundries actually buy strip curtains for it.
We have assumed it, by analogy with the butcher and cafe pages. If it is not a thing, we should drop that fourth position.
